A book cover designed for Ozarks Hollow Press. The brief for this project was very complicated, asking for a number of specific images in the design including a blond woman in a blue dress on a bicycle, references to a character in the story who was an inventor, and something that was evocative of the time of the story (first decade of the 1900s).
I chose a public domain illustration of a woman on a bicycle and used Photoshop to make her dress the correct color of blue and change from brunette to blonde. I combined this illustration from schematics taken from invention patents as a nod to the inventor of the story. All of this was placed on a weathered paper I created for the project. The serif typeface was used to indicate not only and older era, the sophistication of the main character in the book.
